#5627 Chinoiserie Overlay Peking Glass Snuff bottle 3.25" H

 

This intricately-crafted snuff bottle is of traditional Chinese Peking Glass depicting a young boy with a lotus flower and large leaf for good luck. Its laborious creation starts with a single-coloured glass base, with subsequent layers of overlaid glass hand-carved to reveal the contrasting hues beneath. During the reign of Emperor Kangxi (1662-1722), snuff bottles such as this were commonly used to inhale powdered tobacco. Dimensions: 1.5" L x 2" W x 3.25" H.
